The vast majority of woople learners have access to a very large library of courses and channels.  For all of its strengths, this diverse source of information has some disadvantages. Specifically, our customers have told us when they identify an exceptionally valuable video, they struggle retrieving that video at a later date.

We know there are many different navigational challenges for us to address. Search, assignments, and goals all share a common objective of guiding a learner through their course library. 

While acknowledging the large amount of work yet to be completed, we’re ready to release a new feature that represents a good first step. We’ve filled the final square on our content navigator (gasp), which will make our Type A customers feel all warm inside. Here’s how it works.

Getting Started

The first time you select this final square, you will see a screen explaining what it means to star a video, and how to star your first video. 

Starring Your First Video

When you come across a video you want to retrieve later, select the star icon on the top left hand corner of the video player. 

Accessing Your Bookmarks

When you select the Star section later on, you’ll see a list of the videos you want to access later. You can select any part of the item to watch the video, or, you can select the “snapback” button to jump back into the course or channel. 

Reordering your Bookmarks

One of the best parts of our bookmark system is that you can drag and drop your starred videos in the starred list. Simply click and drag your videos in the order you prefer, so you can put your super-duper favourites right at the top of your list.

UPDATE 10/11/2010: This feature is now in production, and live for all of our customers.

We’re opening up this feature to private beta testers this week, and if all goes well, we should be rolling this feature out to all of our customers in the near future.
