Southern Automotive Conference

October 16, 2015

Come see us next week in Nashville!

The southeast United States continues to boast the fastest growing automotive industry in North America. Known for its world-class automotive production and sound business environment, the region’s supply-base has thrived while OEMs and major suppliers continue to invest.

With global sales expected to increase, manufacturers must rise to the occasion and continue to: (1) improve operational excellence, (2) build the workforce and increase product, and (3) increase process innovations. The 2015 SAC will focus on how the South is excelling in these three key areas.

In October, senior executives from OEMs from across the southeast will showcase their plants’ latest developments. Key elected officials from southern states will discuss their efforts to increase the region’s competitive advantage. OEMs and suppliers will roll up their sleeves and talk about supplier best practices to ensure that as an industry, we continue to meet the growing challenges of the global market. We will have a Woople booth at the event to showcase how our eLearning platform supports this initiative.

We are pleased to announce that the Woople platform has been updated with a new design!  We love it and we are confident you will too!  Here’s why:

1.  It’s more intuitive.  Things are easier to find!  Some of our beta users have actually discovered features they thought were new because they had not noticed them before.

2.  It’s more responsive.  We are thrilled about the new video speed! Videos are playing in seconds and the quality is even better.  Better, faster videos mean more efficient learning.

3.  It looks fantastic.  The updated Woople design is pleasing to the eye, and we love that.  It’s like a fresh coat of paint.

We are offering FREE walkthroughs and all we ask is for your feedback!  Please let us know what you think, as well as any suggestions you might have for future development.  Our goal is to minimize pain points and create a system that is Simple, Affordable, Fun and Efficient for the user.

We hope you enjoy the sleek, updated Woople design!

Attitude is Everything

July 17, 2015

Sales tip: Maintain a positive attitude at all times.  You might be thinking, “That’s great and all, but having a good attitude won’t seal the deal.”  Well, actually your attitude determines success in almost any field, but especially sales.

Why?

The greatest salespeople are likable people.  Potential customers buy from people they like and trust.  When interacting with customers, your attitude has everything to do with the outcome.

Here are three attitude tips:

1.  Have a good feeling about yourself.  No, that’s not selfish.  How is anyone going to like and trust you if you don’t like and trust yourself?

2. Love what you do.  If you love what you do, that comes across in your tone, your facial expressions, and the way you speak.  Customers can sense a salesperson’s level of passion right away.

3. Seek to help other people. If you genuinely want to see the customer get what’s best for them, the customer will be able to relax and trust you.  If you’re trying to push your agenda even indirectly, the customer will feel anxious and in a hurry to leave.

Bonus tip: Try smiling! You’ll feel better about yourself, and you might just make someone’s day.

Ethical Leadership

May 22, 2015

The importance of being an ethical company cannot be overstated. Your influence as a leader has a profound effect on the success of your organization as a whole. You set the example for others to follow, and your actions and values reflect those of the company. It is important to understand the role you play in establishing the standards and principles to reflect your company culture and values. Learn how to shape an ethical culture to create consistency in company decisions, messaging, attitude, and environment. This consistency will in turn increase the efficiency of your employees who have no doubts about the decisions being made, and who will promote a positive customer experience. Ethical companies led by ethical leaders inspire their people and create a powerful, compelling culture of instantaneous accountability.

We are excited to host a Power Up: Ethical Leadership 1-day workshop at our Tremont location next week. Please call the Woople team at 1-800-823-7698 for more information.

Happy Memorial Day!

Sales Starts With...

April 20, 2015

What do you say when the customer says, "No"? If you don’t have a ready answer, you’re in trouble.

No matter what you do, you are selling a product, selling your services, selling your skills, or selling your time. To be successful at sales, to win, you must have the words. There are not magic words you learn to somehow be great at closing deals. No, closing starts with relationship building from the very beginning.

How do you begin a relationship? With words. What kind of words? They must be rooted in service. Service is your competitive edge in sales. Service is about what you do and why you do it. It’s about giving without expectation of return – something mediocre salespeople don’t grasp.

The phrase "Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something" reflects the common understanding that salespeople just try to convince you with persuasive words of something that may or may not be true.

Instead, sales starts with service. The more you are concerned with helping others, the more they will like you. The more they like you, the more they will keep coming back and telling all their friends. But you can’t fake it. If you are more concerned with yourself and your numbers than you are about customers, any success you find will not last long.

Service starts with your core values, but it must be communicated with words. Instead of sounding "salesy," your values must be communicated with service-based language.

Paul Cummings created an array of service-based language pathways, and he has taught them to over a million people over the past 20 years. He will be teaching his Winning Words on Thursday, April 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m. at our Tremont location. Call us at 1-800-823-7698 and join us!

Teaching and the Workplace

March 06, 2015

Think of your favorite teachers from elementary school. What was it about them that made them great?

Think about your workplace. Are there teachers there? Do you see teaching actively taking place?

For many, the word “teacher” is rarely used in the business setting. People speak of “managers” and “bosses” and “practical strategies” and “boosting performance.” Many businesses try to start with coaching, giving feedback on what needs improvement, and they skip the essential aspect of teaching. Unfortunately, companies often don't pay enough attention to teaching the great people they hire. New hires come in and are expected to use problem-solving skills to figure things out on their own.

Imagine if organizations were known for being teaching organizations. Imagine if companies had great teachers who created an environment of continual learning among employees. When teaching and learning are happening, coaching around areas of improvement is much easier because there is a culture of people who want to improve and grow.

Think back to those teachers who made an impact on you. More than likely, they made an impact because of their passion and enthusiasm, which brought purpose to what they taught. More than likely, they passed on a love of learning. This love of learning should not stop after school, but should grow! According to Henry Ford, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” At Woople, Paul Cummings and Traci Day believe in a teaching and learning culture. They also believe in passing that on to other companies.

On March 26th, we will host a Teaching, Coaching, Mentoring Workshop at our office in Chattanooga, TN. Please call 1-800-823-7698 for more information.

“Give Them a Tool = Gives Them a Chance!” – Paul Cummings

February 06, 2015

How many tools do your people have? NADA reminded me how many database systems, advertising plans, and different kinds of equipment can be used inside the dealership. What would be the most beneficial for your people? You had three days to tour three huge buildings in the beautiful city of San Francisco and decide.

Paul Cummings had two days to speak. We weren’t sure what to expect when we arrived. Even though we had been away from the convention for a few years, the saying, “Out of sight, out of mind” could not have been further from the truth. The Winning Words Workshop on day one started with the Phoenix Car Company, from the UK, arriving almost an hour early to ensure they had front row seats.

Every now and then, we find companies that believe what we do: if your doors are open, you have to train. Paul provided the tools to train, including The 9-Square Grid, The “O” Grid, The We Are Grid, and Tie Downs – an array of so many bullets and word combinations to prevent anyone in the business of sales from ever running out of words. He taught the importance of being authentic and compared the bullets from the grids to Legos. Everyone will be given the same tools (or Legos) and will be able to build their own unique communication pathway. Each person’s will be different and genuine, and each individual will be equipped for success. However, in order to build anything, people must have the tools to do so. Your people deserve that chance.

What is your company’s secret sauce for success? The E↑ formula that Paul shared at NADA gave dealers, managers, and all in attendance a new dynamic to take home and practice daily. Your enthusiasm has to be contagious. You have to have real energy; people want to be around people who love what they do! When you have enthusiasm and energy, the byproduct is excitement. Combine enthusiasm, energy and excitement, and you have a competitive edge. That was just the surface of what Paul covered in his two 90-minute sessions there at the Moscone Center. We were reunited with friends from all over the world, and Paul was able to do what he does best: teach! People left fired up and inspired. Emails have come in by the hundreds of what people took away. Share with us what left the biggest impression on you! Email me at amanda@woople.com, and we can share your takeaways. Live at Level 10!
